A brief History
In 1975 the Department of Textile Technology was opened, which is one of the majors in the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Islam Indonesia. In 1977, the textile technology study program was developed into a Faculty of Textile Technology with two departments, namely the Department of Textile Engineering and Textile Chemistry. In 1982 the Faculty of Industrial Technology was established, so that the Universitas Islam Indonesia has three faculties in engineering, namely the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Textile Technology, and the Faculty of Industrial Technology.

In 1985 the government regulated that in one university only one Faculty of Engineering was justified. As a result, the three faculties merged into the Faculty of Engineering. Based on Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 25 / dikti / Kep / 1993 The Faculty of Engineering is divided into two faculties, namely the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning and the Faculty of Industrial Technology.

At that time the Faculty of Industrial Technology had two departments, namely the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management and the Department of Textile Technology. In the 1994/1995 academic year, the Informatics Engineering Department was opened. In 1995 the Department of Textile Technology changed its name in to the Department of Chemical Engineering, with two concentrations, namely Chemical Technology Concentration and Textile Technology Concentration.

The Electrical Engineering Department concentrating on Electronic Engineering was opened in the 1997/1998 academic year. In 1999/2000, the Department of Mechanical Engineering was opened. Through the Dirjen DIKTI RI Decree Number: 4895 / D / T / 2006 dated December 21, 2006 which is a revision of the Dirjen DIKTI RI Decree Number 3398 / D / T / 2006 dated September 8, 2006, the Industrial Engineering Study Program (S2) was opened at the University Indonesian Islam in Yogyakarta and on July 31, 2009, the Ministry of National Education of the Directorate General of Higher Education through Decree Number 1273 / D / T / 2009 authorized the establishment of an Informatics Engineering Study Program (S2) at the Universitas Islam Indonesia.

Nowadays, there are several choices of study programs at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Universitas Islam Indonesia, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In each study program, students can also choose several focus studies or specializations offered further.
