DEVELOPMENT

The long history of the journey has tested and established the noble values established by Universitas Islam Indonesia, so that it can become a solid foundation towards its future. In the revolutionary arena that led the Indonesian nation to its independence, the Indonesian Islamic High School (Sekolah Tinggi Islam) was established in Jakarta on Sunday 27 Rajab 1364 Hijriah (July 8, 1945). The hope of the nation was immense, and they patiently awaited the birth of a college that was revived by nationalism and the treatise of Islam. After moving from Jakarta to Yogyakarta in 1945, the UII increasingly experienced difficulties, which helped it forge itself and increased its resilience in moving towards the future. A long journey marked by continual improvements and provision of benefits, thank God, yielded great results, including obtaining A Rank (excellent) in Institutional Accreditation held by the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT), which makes UII the best PTS in Indonesia.

Service Improvement

In carrying out the noble mandate of becoming rahmatan lil’alamin—mercy for the universe—UII gradually strove to improve services and improve the quality of the attained results. Learning facilities, especially in the form of lecture infrastructure and laboratories, have always been the top priority at the beginning of the establishment of this campus. Now, UII offers excellent services with superior supporting facilities. In addition to the student dormitory building, which was established with the support of the Ministry of Public Housing, there is also a Convention Centre Building and the Main Library Building, which have served various aspects of learning. UII has always been increasing their effectiveness and capacity.

Become the Grace of the Universe

Education at UII is experienced as an effort to develop the potential that grows in each participant in order to become a blessing for the universe. More than 75 thousand UII alumni have worked with integrity and reliable skills to provide positive contributions to the community in various fields, including Dr. Halim Alamsyah (Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia), Dharmono SH (Deputy Attorney General), Dr. Busyro Muqoddas (Chair of the Corruption Eradication Commission) and Prof. Dr. M. Mahfud MD (Chairperson of the Constitutional Court and recipient of the Bintang Mahaputra Adipradana award).

Reach the World

UII has extensive networks with various leading universities in the world to open up opportunities for students and teaching staff at UII to take dual degree programmes, receive scholarships, conduct joint research and exchange teaching staff. Among the leading collaborating universities are Hokkaido University in Japan, the University of Karlsruhe and the University of Dresden in Germany, Murdoch University and Deakin University in Australia, the University of Oslo in Norway, Eastern Mediterranean University in Turkey, Solbridge International Business School in Korea, University of Gloucestershire, University of Essek and University of Bedfordshire in England, and the University of Twente and University of Saxion in the Netherlands.

Collaboration to support the development of science is also intertwined with world-renowned research institutions and industry circles. Among them are the International Academy of Science in Austria, the Duke Islamic Study Centre, Technologiezentrum Wasser (TZW), Deutche Gesselshaft Fur Technische Zusammernarbeit (GTZ) and Hanns Seidel Foundation Germany, Open Society Justice Initiative in Hungary, Global Alliance Justice Education in the United States, Danone International, SAP, Oracle, Sun Microsystems and LG Innotek. This comprehensive collaboration network enables UII to develop its education and research programmes, so that it can accelerate its vision as a world-class university
